For the second year in a row pupils from The Pointer School chess club have won the first place Best Overall Primary School in the Kent Junior Chess Association’s Kent Grand Prix completion. The KGP is a year-long tournament comprising of eight tournaments spaced out monthly over the academic year. Our trip to Sayer’s Croft  was fantastic and we all had a lot of fun! After arriving and making our beds, we had lunch, and our first activities were orienteering and shelter building. The children built efficient shelters which were tested with the arrival of the rain (watering cans) and the interference of bears (teachers in disguise). Year 4 had an excellent time at PGL this year! We undertook challenging activities such as raft building, zip wires, trapeze climbing and jumping, orienteering, problem solving and quad biking. Many children improved their team building skills, and  pushed themselves to the limit by trying new experiences and battling fears. It was an awesome opportunity, which all children thoroughly enjoyed!
