Well done to all the children who won an award in this term’s Medals Assembly!

The Pointer School recently dominated the Kent Chess Grand Prix, holding on to First Place for the Primary School Grand Prix for the third time in a row. Evan and Stakhey led the team with excellent scores with Axel and newcomers Callum, Seb, and Maja all contributing to the team win! Congratulations to the Pointers Chess Team on their continued success.

Equations, symmetry and problem solving were all on the menu for four lucky Pointers pupils this week. The quartet was invited to take part in the annual National Young Mathematician Award. The Pointer’s Fundraising Group (PFG) was created last year to help create a community for not only Pointer’s children but their parents as well.  The first PFG “parents only” event was the Winter Soiree on Friday 10 November. This week Year 5 visited Kew Gardens as part of their Geography topic, ‘Rainforests’. They took part in an immersive experience, exploring the complex rainforest habitat, and examining a variety of rainforest plants located in one of Kew’s famous glasshouses! In this session the students worked scientifically by observing, taking measurements and asking questions about rainforest habitats and explored the relationship between the rainforest plants, animals and people. The Pointer School Year 4 netball team recently visited Blackheath Prep for a netball fixture. We played three games against three different Blackheath Prep teams: in the three games Pointers won 2-1, lost 4-0 and won 3-0 . This was an excellent experience to play against the different teams and the Pointers girls gave a very impressive performance, showing some great passing and moving.  We are sure the girls will take this […]
