The Pointer School is an Independent Christian prep and pre-prep in Blackheath, South East London. We are seeking an inspirational, dedicated and passionate facilities manager to join our thriving support team.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated, practical, hardworking individual to work with the Business Manager to lead and manage all aspects of the premises including upkeep, care, maintenance, health and safety. The facilities manager will be responsible for the line management of premises staff including performance management and training and to oversee our cleaning contractors.

  • To keep on top of and manage any repairs, working with the facilities assistants – general maintenance skills are essential
  • Dealing directly with contractors, collating quotes/ pricing, and ensuring all works are completed to the specification and on schedule for time and budget.
  • Staff management – anything from delegating duties to your team to supporting their development.
  • Maintaining the security of the premises and its contents, including the operation of fire and burglar alarms.
  • Have specific responsibility for the carrying out and recording of regular Health and Safety Checks
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of current Health & Safety and Fire Safety regulations and law
  • Maintain a working understanding of the Independent School Standards Regulations as they relate to buildings and premises
  • Logistical preparation and support for school events, such as parents evenings, school plays and open days
  • Manage electronic and paper records relating to maintenance, H&S, fire safety and building systems

The successful candidate will need to have previous experience of managing a building as well as strong communication skills.
