Last week the Year 3 boys travelled to Blackheath Prep for the school’s first football fixture of the academic year. Nerves were high as this was the boys’ first fixture and they did not know what to expect.

The whistle went and part way through the first half an own goal from the opposition put the A team in a commanding position. In the second half the Pointers team were close to scoring a few times; however, it was Sebastian whose shot screamed past the goalkeeper extending the boys’ lead. The boys controlled the whole match showing some great individual skills and fantastic teamwork.

The B team took the lead early with a fantastic long-range effort from Benedict. The second half started and Blackheath Prep started to press and scored two goals. This did not dishearten the boys who fought hard till end, though they could not secure a second goal to level the score.

All the boys had fun and should be proud of their efforts. They wore The Pointers badge with pride and were a credit to the school. Well done boys!

Final Scores:

Blackheath Prep 0- 2 The Pointer School
