The Pointers Under 11 football team performed admirably at the St Dunstan’s tournament. After a slow start, the boys rallied together and played some outstanding football, drawing with St Olaves and beating local rivals Blackheath, to finish 3rd in the group and qualify for the knockout stages.
The quarter final was an extremely tense and entertaining match. Breaside school took a 2-0 lead going into half time, but again Pointers didn’t give up and scored two second half goals to force extra time. Pointers created a host of chances but were unable to find a winning goal and the match went to a penalty shootout. Unfortunately, despite it going to sudden death and goalkeeper Aryan scoring his penalty, Pointers lost 9-8 on penalties. The school and Parents were extremely proud of the boys’ efforts.
