Ahoy me hearties!
Year 1 had a brilliant time on board the Cutty Sark on Tuesday as part of our Sea topic. We learnt all about the history and renovation of the Cutty Sark and saw how its uses had changed over the years. It was fascinating to find out about the different cargo the Cutty Sark had and how much it could hold; on one trip to Australia it brought back enough wool to make over a million jumpers! We also found out about the conditions for the sailors on board, looked into their cabins and kitchens and found out how they passed their time on board the ship. The children loved exploring the top deck of the boat and hearing the story about the figurehead.
