On a cold, wet Tuesday afternoon the Year 4 boys played their first home game against Blackheath Prep. Right from kick-off, Pointers took control and there were moments of individual excellence from the likes of Leonardo, Max, Etienne and Nahshon. The boys were close to scoring a few times but it was Nahshon that broke the deadlock.  Max, Antoni and William kept Blackheath Prep at bay with some excellent defending, giving goalkeeper Mihir an easy game. This gave the boys more confidence and Antoni slotted the ball into the back of the next making the score 2-0 at halftime.

Pointers went into the second half with a comfortable lead. As the second half started, Pointers took control and it wasn’t long before Leonardo scored from close range. The boys were looking confident, but they were caught off guard and Blackheath Prep pulled one back. This did not dishearten the boys and they kept working very hard, in the end causing an error from Blackheath Prep which saw them score an own goal. In the final moments of the game, Blackheath Prep managed to score another, but time was not on their side and the final whistle was blown.

Final Score: The Pointer School 4-2 Blackheath Prep

I would like to give the boys a big well done. They played fantastically well and their win was well-deserved.
