Year 6 has cunningly re-enacted the events which led to the start of the First World War more than one hundred years ago.

Using a whole host of resources, including archived accounts of eye-witnesses, they acted out the death of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie in Sarajevo in June 1914.

The drama also included the assassin, Gavrillo Princip, hiding in the playground, and the moments that the open-topped car took that fateful drive in Bosnia.

Role play gives the pupils another way of recounting tragic events which have world-changing consequences.
