The Pointer School has pulled off another stunning victory to reach its first ever final of a National General Knowledge competition. Answering questions ranging from Dickens to Picasso and from asteroid belts to Scandinavian currencies, the school’s team outsmarted a star-studded line up to come out on top.

The Quiz Club Championship features teams of four children aged seven to eleven, with David, Ethan, Stakhey and captain Carson forming a dynamic quartet for Pointers. Amongst our opponents were Dulwich Prep, Alleyn’s, and nine other large independent schools in the south-east of England.

Having won their opening heat in January, the Pointers team headed to Alleyn’s School for the semi finals. The pupils answered forty general knowledge questions which took them from the classics to the African continent and which delved into the varied areas of politics, religion and science.

This incredible feat was made even more remarkable as they were in joint last place early on but never gave up hope, securing a win which will take them to the National finals in London this summer. Several hundred schools entered this prestigious competition with the final being fought out between the twelve best teams in the UK.
